Vintage Images of Christmas... part 1

Hello....I hope you had a great week...I sure did! We are having some colder weather and it's so nice! I sat down to play with some of the vintage images I have been collecting. I saved them to a flash drive and had them printed at a local office supply store...because they have a color laser printer vs. my ink jet printer...so you get much brighter and sharper images and I don't use up a whole ink cartridge! They let me use my own cardstock so it's very inexpensive.
For the one above I used some vintage lace and added a ribbon rose I made from seam binding. This was my very first try at making these ribbon roses...they are really easy!
For this one I used "Webster's Pages" because the colors seemed to match almost perfectly....and although these are non traditional Christmas colors...I love them. I did not make the rose....it's from Prima...I just added the holly leaves.
I titled this "part 1" because I have so many of these images and will be posting more cards and things soon.
Thanks for stopping by...I really appreciate your comments

I Can't Believe I won Something!

I am so excited....I just found out that I won a Starbucks gift card from Theresa over at Garden Antqs Vintage I just love her blog...she has such gorgeous vintage things! I have been so busy and November just snuck up on me-yikes! It will be a busy month but I will try my hardest to post more often!
I made the card below for a co-worker's birthday and now I think it is time to start focusing on Christmas!
So much to do....so little time! But I did make time to go and vote today....and I hope you did too!
I love hearing from ya....

N is for Nest...

I purchased this kit from "The Button Farm" at the CKC show in San Marcos back in September...and have finally gotten it finished! I absolutely LOVE the crystal knob that is on the front (like a mini door knob)
I love that the kit came with great instructions and color pictures...it made it really easy!
Of course I had to change it up a bit...and add some lace in here and there!
I also made pockets on some of the pages....just to personalize it a bit....and make it more my own!
I just love these little books....even if there really isn't a practical reason for them! It is fun to create and have pretty little things that have been hand made just sitting around to enjoy!

I hope you all are having a Great Halloween weekend....the weather here has gotten a bit cooler and it feels wonderful...so I am headed out to enjoy the weekend!

Vintage Collage Book & More...

I was so inspired by all the vintage goodies I saw in Warrenton that I made this little chip-board book. I used Tim Holtz Fragments and made the collage with vintage(reproduction) images.
And a few more pictures I took in Warrenton for your inspiration!

OH....and by the way ....I found my camera!!! And I am feeling a little less stressed....but time is flying by so fast...Remember to enjoy every day!

One day was not enough!

Just one day is not enough to see one-fourth of all the vendors that come from all over the US for the fall & spring antiques show in Warrenton & Round Top Texas! I was completely overwhelmed!
Let me start at the beginning.... I almost talked myself out of going! I couldn't find anyone who wanted to go with me...can you believe it? But after seeing Jodie's post about her trip I was determined to go even if I had to go alone. At the last minuet I called my friend RaNae figuring that she wouldn't be able to go with only 12 hours notice.....but what I didn't know...was that in 12 hours it was her birthday...and she was looking for any excuse not to go to school! It was meant to be!

So we drove up Thursday morning...neither of us had ever been to this "Antiques Show" and didn't know exactly what to expect. We were both glad to be out of the city... and in the country, and we found out we have a lot in common. We parked at the first place we came to... not really knowing if it was good place or not...and just started looking around.

The more I looked...the more overwhelmed I got! I just kept thinking to myself...Holy Cow...there is JUST SO MUCH TO SEE!!!! There are tents of vendors as far as you can see!

Of course anything sparkly catches my eye!!!

There is something for Everyone....especially someone who loves FLOWERS!!!!

Ok...If you know me...you know I LOVE buttons!!! This was the Motherload of buttons.
She literally had drawers....... and drawers.....
And drawers............full of Buttons......it was fun to just pick up a handful and sift through them!

And I was in Lace Heaven. It is amazing that I didn't have to be drug out of there kicking and screaming!!! At least RaNae got to sit and rest....because I was in there for a while!!!

All this shopping makes a girl hungry....we asked around and the Legal Tender Saloon was highly recommended.....mmm....they were right!
After a quick lunch and dessert .....don't forget the dessert...we trudged on!

These angel wings were Amazing! Too bad they wouldn't fit in my little roller cart!

Then we found the Junk Gypsy...they were hosting the Prom Party later that night...it was the talk of the town. Too bad we were too pooped to join the party after dark.
And in case you need one.......you can rent one.....;) Men available to carry heavy items to your car!
Refreshing beverages and some live music!

By the end of the day I was exhausted....my poor feet! When I looked down and saw how filthy and swollen they were I knew it was time to call it a day! We defiantly covered a lot of ground...and we still had to walk allllll the way back to the car. The piggies were a squealin'....the dogies were a barkin' and in serious need of a pedicure!!!!!!!
We only scratched the surface......so I can't wait till the spring show....I am hooked! Next time I plan to stay for a couple of days....and try to actually make it up to Round Top!

PS...This was just a few of the pictures I took....let me know if you wanna see more in another post!

Thanks!

I have wanted to send a box of handmade "thank you" cards to my sister, so she could give them to her customers and hostesses. She recently started selling Mary Kay cosmetics and has been working really hard at her business. When I saw this blog post by Hillary Kanwischer I was soooo inspired !!! I love this sketch...so I had to make a few!

You really must check out Hillary's blog..she makes the cutest things!

I also want to thank each of you who drop by and visit my blog....I so appreciate your comments!!

I am getting to bed early tonight...because I am headed to Round Top & Warrenton, Tx for the big antiques show tomorrow...I am so super excited...you would think I was going to Disneyland! My camera is charging and I will try to take some good pictures to show ya the goodies I find!

Baking Buttons

I have a crazy obsession with buttons..I should seek therapy I know!! Ok...I was working on a swap I signed up for and had to make 20 pieces, I decided to use a button on each piece...and didn't want to part with 20 of my precious buttons. My solution was to make replicas. I made a mold of a button I had using Suze Weinberg's Mold-N-Pour then I used polymer clay in the mold to make the buttons . For my first attempt they turned out pretty good, although the picture isn't great...they are on the cookie sheet just out of the oven. This is my kind of baking!
Below is how I used the buttons for the center of the flower on my completed swap pieces. I finished all 20 of these last night...a whole week before the deadline!

Thanks for stopping by....I would love to hear your comments!

Whew!

Whew! I'm so glad it's over...but it was a lot of fun! Teaching the classes at CKC in San Marcos was the biggest project I have yet to take on. It required a lot of planning and tons of prep work preparing the class kits. I had a lot of help from my friends and sponsors at Cookbookin'-whom I thank from the bottom of my heart! I am happy to say that the classes were a success and I received do many kind comments from those who took the class. So now that it's over... I have spent the past two days in my pajamas recuperating! I have done some crafty things...but nothing is complete yet, and I have done some much needed house cleaning...since I had really neglected it while getting ready for CKC.
I wanted to share the inside of the original book that won the contest-some details were modified for the final version taught at CKC.

If you were in the class I hope that you enjoyed it. All patterned papers, stickers and stamped images are from Cookbookin'

Imagine....

My new friend Pam took this wonderful picture of my finished project from Tidbits & Tassels. I was so honored when I saw that she posted it, along with many other great photos on her blog "Frippery" you should go go check it out! It was wonderful to see how different every ones finished projects were...and they all were beautiful! I still have 2 other projects that I need to photograph so I can show you...but I have had to kick it into high gear getting ready for the classes at CKC San Marcos....so they will have to wait a bit longer.
Thanks for stopping by....
