Tidbits & Tassels

About a year ago I stumbled on to some wonderful blogs and found out about "art retreats" that take place all over the country....Silver Bella , The Paper Cowgirl , Artistic Affaire , Petticoats & Parasols are a just few. I dreamed and wished about attending one of these wonderful events ....but I was intimidated...not to mention there is never enough time and money...know what I mean? Then I found Chantal Johnson's blog Wishblooms and saw that she was going to be hostessing Tidbits & Tassels....it was in driving distance, it was affordable and I have family nearby so I wouldn't need a hotel...it was Perfect! So I made plans to attend....I was going to step outside my comfort zone and go all by myself....but at the last minute I convinced my friend Yuki to go with me...and I am so glad she did because we had a blast! Chantal's home was beautiful....there were pretty things she has made everywhere you look...and her studio is Unbelievable! We had awesome projects, and great food...but the very best part was meeting the other talented ladies who I now can call my friends! I was encouraged by Jodie of Everything Vintage (one of my most favorite blogs) to share my story here on my blog...because I had explained to her that it seems that whenever I sit down to do a post...I go blank! So I hope that you can understand that I am not used to writing much....but I hope to get better at it. Anyway...I am sooo glad I went ...I am so inspired! I will share pictures of the projects I made while I was there sometime soon.
Oh ...and there is a new retreat coming up in October that will be in Abilene, Tx called High Cotton .....anyone wanna go???

Hello my friends! I have been super busy getting ready for the big class next month at CKC San Marcos, and getting ready to head out of town for a few days to attend Tidbits & Tassels! I just thought I would share a couple of cards with butterflies before I flutter off to Dallas. I am so excited about these upcoming events and all the wonderful new friends I will make!
Thanks to all of you who stop by my blog and say hello....I so love hearing from you!

Lace, Ribbons ans Roses

Lace, ribbons and roses... are a few of my favorite things...but the list goes on...and on!!! I snapped this "sneak peak"photo while preparing my "goodie bags"for the swap that we will have at Tidbits & Tassels... that is only about 10 days away! I am looking so forward to this event and to meet all the ladies who will be attending! I think it is important to pursue what you love, and brings you joy...although we can usually find a million excuses why we shouldn't. I am so thankful for the opportunities I have had to share what I love through teaching classes. I also love sharing my ideas and creations with you here on my blog. Your stopping in to see what I have been up to and your comments really do bless me, and encourage me to keep on creating.

Vinatge with a pop of color

Ok...I am loving this sketch or design...or what ever you call it... using a paper doily cut in half with a flower on top. For this one I used a page from a book for the top background paper. I am also loving using coffee filters then spraying them with glimmer mist. I layered a small crochet doily then the button in the center of the flower. The small bingo card is from the Tim Holtz paper pad. I truly love how this looks vintage but with a pop of color!

I have been super busy getting ready for classes. I am also going to Dallas later this month to attend "Tidbits & Tassels" retreat and have just completed my swap goodie bags! I am so excited I could just pop!

2 cards from 1 design

On my list of things to do was to make some thank you cards. So I decided on this design that I had seen on Beatriz Jennings blog (i love all her work) On the first card I made my flower from coffee filters that are colored using glimmer mist. Below is a close up to show more detail. For the second card I used the Webster's Pages bloomers that come like this on a strip of netting, they can be cut apart and used individually.
I used just one of the blooms, added some leaves & some small posies for the finished look below. I plan to make a few more of these...but where does the time go? I should be working on class kits but sometimes that gets monotonous...and I feel the need to create!
Here is a close up.

Thanks for stopping by!
I appreciate your comments! I would love to know which of these 2 catches your eye the most!
