RIck Rack Flowers

Hi...Hope you are enjoying your weekend...they sure go by so fast! Today I am sharing another project I made at my friend Yuki's "Mini Retreat". The paper is by The Angel Co. and again I was a rebel and had to be different! My friend Barbara gave me the idea of making the rick rack flowers, because I had rick rack in the perfect color. To make these start with a circle the size you want the flower to be, then use a low temp glue gun to gather the rick rack round the circle. Then I added the button in the center. These were the first rick rack flowers I ever made in my whole life!
I love how bright & cheerful this is! I hope like it too!

Crazy Daisy

Hey there ...did ya miss me? Cuz I have missed hearing from yall!! I don't want to bore ya with how busy I have been, so I am gonna skip over all that and tell ya about the "Mini Retreat" that my friend Yuki hosted. It was my first time to attend I had a great time! There were about 40 or so ladies, many from out of town. It was held in a large reception room in a local church. There were 25 projects to complete at your own pace. This Flower card was one of the projects...but I had to be a rebel....and embellish it in my own way....so my finished card was totally different than the sample card. I will post another one of the projects very soon...I promise!
Thanks for stopping by......I luv to read your comments if ya wanna say Hi

Handmade Gardenia

Gardenia's have always been one of my most favorite flowers. I am pleased at how this Paper Gardenia came out! Gardenia's are used a lot for weddings...and I love how they smell... I am going to try to find some way to make this paper Gardenia smell like the real thing! I think I have seen the scented oil, if I can just figure out how to get it in the flower without discoloring it! Any suggestions???
I think this will be a great wedding card, and the clolors of the accent flowers could be changed to the colors of the wedding. It would also make a great Mother's day card!
Thanks to all who stop by my blog... I would love to hear from you... leave me a hello in the comments an make my day!

My new favorite Artist...Wendy Vecchi

I have a new favorite artist Wendy Vecchi....have you heard of her? Well I recently got her new book, and she is featured in the new issue of "the Stampers Sampler" magazine. She has a fabulous blog too....Studio490art.blogspot.com. I love the look of her work...it has that distressed Tim Holtz look...but with a more feminine touch...and she makes flowers!!! She has her own line of stamps...but I don't have any of them ....Yet! So in my playing with what I do have....this was my first attempt to copy her style!
Let me know what ya think!
I love reading your comments, thanks for visiting!

Mosaic Collage Art

This is one of the first pieces in a very long time that has made me feel like I made real Art! I am a member of the San Antonio Calligraphy Guild (which is so much more than just calligraphy) and in our "mini class" for March we made these mosaic collages.
The squares were punched from scrapbook papers and are one inch by one inch, then adhered to the base (a thick watercolor paper that was pre-gridded) I painted gesso...really thick for texture... in all the area between the squares., then let it dry overnight. The next day I painted it with gold acrylic paint, then smudged with black ink using a sponge. Then I stamped vintage text with black ink...I masked the squares off, so the stamping was just on the gold.
I had a black mat cut to fit the piece, and framed it in a simple black metal frame. When I tried to photograph the framed piece...the glass kept reflecting the flash...but here is another pic that shows the texture.
Hope you are making some art!!!

Altered "Fun" Book

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing an Altered Book that I have been working on for a while....it is still a work in progress....I want to add some ribbons & embellishments here & there to some of the pages. The book it's self is simply a hard bound book I found on clearance for .25 cents. I have been looking and you can find books at Goodwill, and thrift stores for $1.00 and under. I sectiond the pages into 8 groups....here are some of the pages I created in the book. I didn't have time to crop all the photos so please forgive me!
I used several pattered papers....to many to name them all....lots of mis matched patterns...but they somehow coordinate.
I used vintage images that I have collected from various sites and blogs. I have gotten hooked on making these altered books...I have ideas for for making a bunch more of these....the only problem is time!!!! Latlety my head is spinning with ideas....then I get frustrated and overwhelmed because I have no time to sit and create.
I do hope you enjoy this and I love to hear your comments!!!

Melted Organza Flowers

Ok....Is there is any question that I love to make flowers? I got the inspiration to make these organza flowers from a couple of other blogs that showed tutorials. Here is one tutorial and here is another. See...blog surfing can be productive! Their flowers are beautiful so be sure to check them out.

I experimented with the ivory color first, and sprayed the finished flower with glimmer mist and that is how I got the peachy colored flower and the light pink flower. Then I went out and bought more colors of the organza fabric and made the blue flower. I demonstrated how easy and quick these are to make at my friend Yuki's house the other night and I made some in other colors....but I gave them away! These are really simple and I hope you give them a try!
I plan to make a bunch of these....I'll show ya how they turn out...as soon as I get them done!
I love hearing your comments!

Rolled up Rosettes

I am loving making these fun little rosettes! They are so simple and quick...I promise! Here is a link to a tutorial I found to show you how. I had seen these, but had never made one until the I took "Totally Tim" class (where we learn all these cool Tim Holtz techniques) now I am addicted! These can be made with any size circle or scalloped circle...depending on how large you want your rosette to be.
Too many fun things to make.....never enough time!
Thanks to all who visit my little blog...I hope you find some inspiration....If you do I would love to hear from you!
