Victorian Ladies Fabric book

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We have finally had some sunshine so I was able to take pictures of the Mixed Media Fabric book I made at the KC Willis Workshop.....it has already been a month ago! For my book I chose a more Victorian theme, although I didn't stay with one particular color theme throughout the entire book.
Page one: quote...A woman should be two things, classy and fabulous.  Coco Chanel
Page 2: quote...Women's eye's have pierced more hearts than ever did the bullets of war.

Page 3: quote...Inside every woman a gypsy girl dances by the fire.

Page4: quote....If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.

Page 5: quote....Beauty...when you look into a woman's eyes and see what is in her heart.

These are a couple of projects that I made for Christmas Presents...that still haven't been mailed-Yikes!
This one is a family photo...of My Daddy and his brother and sisters....it's a wall hanging
This one is my mom and her sister....on a tote bag

So you can see I have been busy...and I bet you have been too....so thanks for taking a few minuets to stop by my blog!  I would so love it if you would leave me a comment!!!

KC Willis Workshop in SanAngelo, TX

Last weekend My friend Yuki and I attended  a 2 day workshop with KC Willis in San Angelo, TX and I loved every minute of it! I had never met KC before but had been admiring her work for about a year or so.  Let me tell you she is awesome! I learned so much! Our workshop was small with only 5 students, so we each had a lot of personal attention. Before we got started on our project (a mixed media fabric book) KC told us her story of how she started in her art several years ago. She is very inspirational!
Yuki, KC and myself with one of KC's large canvas pieces.
KC had a large assortment of her pieces with her because during this trip to Texas to teach a few workshops, she was delivering her art pieces to stores that sell her work. She gave us the opportunity to have first pick if we wanted to buy any of her pieces.  I bought a book kit with 2 of her dvd's and one of her small pieces. I can't wait to watch the dvd's

Here is the KC Willis piece I bought....it was so hard to pick just one!

This is one of the books KC made that was one of the "samples" for the class.  It was amazing how every one's book turned out so different, but they were all beautiful!!!!
At the end of the second day we each did a show & tell of our books. Here is everyone looking at Ann's book....except me since I was behind the camera.

I will never be able to put into words how much I enjoyed the workshop! It has inspired me so much!
I will have to do another post of the book I made during the workshop!

Thanks for stopping by!

Fabric Collage Heart

I am so excited ...I leave the day after tomorrow for the KC Willis 2 day worshop in San Angelo, Tx! If you aren't familiar with her work, the pictures above are both samples I borrowed from Pinterest. During the 2 days we will be making a mixed media book, working with all sorts of fabrics and textures. A few days ago I decided I couldn't wait to get started ... so I pulled out my stash of fabrics and this heart is what I wound up with.

It is so much prettier in  person, when you can see all the different textures of the fabrics.  I have my camera charging right now, because I plan to take lots of pictures during the workshop...so I will have lots to share when I get back!

Thanks for stopping by!

Lace Case

I made this "Lace Case" to take with me to my very first KC Willis workshop! I am soooo excited! It has all worked out so perfectly!  At first the workshop was sold out, but then a few ladies transferred to a workshop in Arlington, Tx, so since there were openings my friend Yuki is now coming with me! I was a bit nervous to go all alone, driving somewhere I have never been, staying in a hotel all by myself, and not knowing anyone that will be there....so I was ecstatic when she said she could go!
I had seen some of these vintage travel cases covered in lace in Warrenton, Tx. I  even posted a picture of one I wish I had bought.(click here to see it)   So when I found a vintage travel case, for only a few dollars I decided I could do it myself.  I packed it full of "art supplies" like lace, buttons, ribbons, etc. so I am set! We leave one week from today!
Also....I did pick a winner of my tag giveaway....and Olga was the winner! I will get it in the mail to you soon!
Thanks for stopping by....and Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Grateful Girl!

At this time of year, with Thanksgiving just around the corner, I wanted to stop and reflect on how grateful I am for so many things in my life! I am so thankful for my family, and friends who give me such love and support. I am so happy that I have you all! I am grateful that God always provides for me, even when I don't feel like I deserve it! I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to do so many wonderful things this year like attending art retreats and spending time in Warrenton & Round Top....because these things make me happy.
It makes me happy that I can sit down and create a little work of art, and that I can share what I have learned with others....I so enjoy teaching classes!
I enjoy this journey of life, and I hope you do too!
Tell me something you are grateful for or something that makes you happy and be entered to win the tag in the first photo. You have until Monday Nov. 21st at midnight, then I will draw a winner.
Thanks for stopping by

Ornament card

The Barn Sale in Gonzales, TX on Saturday was a great success! It was my first time to ever have a booth at a show (and actually I only had a table) so it was a learning experience. A Big thank you to Kristi for encouraging me to give it a try, and to Yuki for her help with everything!  I did make some money which is great, because I sure know how to spend it! But...I came home exhausted, and now that I have finally gotten everything put away,  I can start more projects!
For this project I used the Tim Holtz Carved Ornaments die, to cut pages torn from old books, folded them in half and glued them together. Then I glittered the edges, and added the bow....how simple!
Ok...it's back to work tomorrow for me.
Thanks for stopping by....I love hearing from ya, so I would love for you to leave me a comment!

Beautiful Treasures from Marberger Farms

At the Marberger Farms Antiques show there are beautiful treasures everywhere you look! There are several huge tents and buildings to walk through, and hundreds of vendors with treasures of every kind!
It can be overwhelming, especially if it's your first time to go....and it was my first time!
It's a good thing I took lot's of pictures...because you can easily forget things you saw...when there is so much to see!
Many things were out of my price range, and simply wouldn't fit in my car....but I can dream!
So much cool stuff....so little time!
I did manage to find lace in my price range...and I bought a lot a lot!
I hope you make plans to go in the spring...it is totally worth the trip!

Thanks for stopping by....I would love to hear from you!

I Love her clothes...and she had some wonderful ladies helping me shop!
If only money grew on trees....and I had an orchard full of those trees.......

You can shop online at Magnolia Pearl too...and start your collection.

It was meant to be...

On my last road trip I bought an old quilt...I had actually seen it in the antique mall on a previous trip and looked at...but didn't buy it....but I kept thinking about it...wishing I had bought it! So when it was still there the next time around....I felt it was meant to be! It was worn...it had tears and holes in it....but I loved the colors of all the vintage fabrics. I decided to cut it up...first I made a stencil of a heart, then placed the stencil on the quilt so I could decide where to cut out my hearts. I blanket stitched around the edges, then embellished it with a bit of lace and a flower made from a sweater I felted. A lot of recycling going on here!

Hope you can see how I let some of the papers inspire my color choices, when it came to embellishing....at first I didn't know what to do with little quilted yellow heart. The finished size of the card is 5 1/2 X 4 1/4 (regular A2 card size) I have many more quilted hearts of all colors and can't wait to make them into something!

Thanks for stopping by...I would love to hear what you think!!!
